  • HD Radio is a new digital technology licensed by ibiquity.com.  HD radio transmission equipment uses space in the sidebands of radio signals to transmit a digital signal.  HD enabled radio receivers can then receive the high quality digital signal.

Most HD digital signals have far better fidelity than older analog signals, especially with the AM band.  For example HD radio reception of KEX and Radio Disney KDZR are in crystal clear stereo.  FM stations can broadcast more than one HD signal on each main frequency.

For a list of radio stations that broadcast an HD signal in Portland, click FM/AM radio and look for the symbol.
